| The P0972VA ATS is a communication and interface module used in Foxboro’s DCS and automation platforms, including I/A Series and Foxboro EVO. Its main function is to connect legacy Nodebus stations to a faster control‑network backbone. This allows Nodebus-based devices to exchange data with Ethernet-enabled control‑network stations seamlessly.
Q1: What is the role of the ATS module?
A1: The ATS serves as a bridge or translator between older Nodebus networks and modern Fast Ethernet control networks within the Foxboro system. It enables controllers and workstations on the newer network to interact with Nodebus stations without requiring any modifications to the Nodebus devices. Q2: Is it possible to combine Nodebus and control‑network stations on the same node?
A2: Yes. When operating in Nodebus‑extender mode, the ATS allows control‑network stations to appear as part of the same Nodebus node. In LAN Interface mode, the ATS functions as the LAN interface for a node that lacks one. This flexibility allows the creation of hybrid networks during system upgrades or migration. |
